Spain take on minnows Andorra as part of their Euro 2024 preparations on Wednesday night.

The start of the tournament is just around the corner with each of the competing nations playing a pair of warm-up matches beforehand.

Spain are one of the favourites to go all the way in Germany this summer, although the quality of Luis de la Fuente’s squad in key positions has been called into question. Doubts surround their centre-back pairing and primary source of goals – can they really rely upon Alvaro Morata as their leading marksman?

Nevertheless. the three-time European champions recovered from a shock defeat in Scotland to qualify with little fuss. Spain’s efficient qualifying campaign saw De la Fuente rewarded with a long-term contract, with Luis Enrique’s successor poised to lead his country at the Euros this summer and the World Cup in 2026.

The Spaniards will be expected to cast aside the 164th-ranked nation in the world on Wednesday, with Andorra’s last win arriving in September 2022.

De la Fuente will likely use the depths of his 29-man preliminary squad on Wednesday, with the likes of Fermin Lopez and Ayoze Perez in contention to make their international debuts.

Pedro Porro was a harsh omission from the squad following his excellent season with Tottenham. His place was taken by veteran Jesus Navas, who could also start on Wednesday with Dani Carvajal recovering from the final.

Dani Olmo is a carrying a minor muscle injury and is unlikely to be risked.

Andorra are set to deploy a flat back five against their wildly superior opponents on Wednesday and aim to stifle a Spain side that will monopolise territory and possession.

Berto Rosas, Marc Vales and Iker Alvarez are set to come back in having been absent during Andorra’s March friendlies. Cucu will lead the line after scoring against South Africa on his last international start.
